Cancer research

The Brian Conlon Foundation has partnered with the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research (QUB) to provide funding for the early detection of Barrett’s Oesophagus and Oesophageal Cancer research which is essential in developing new techniques to detect this cancer earlier thereby improving potential outcomes. 

This project is lead by Dr Richard Turkington clinical reader (medical oncology) Honorary consultant (NI) cancer centre & clinical academic training programme director .

The following three appointments were made in 2022/23:

Clinical fellow Dr David Johnston

NIB Technician Paul Montgomery

PhD fellow student – Erin McGrattan

Our initiatives and deliveries may continue to evolve not only later this year but in future years.
