Brian Conlon GAA Scholarship

The Brian Conlon GAA Scholarship recognises young footballers who display exceptional academic and sporting potential. The recipient is chosen by QUB GAA and is presented annually.

2025 – Joey Clarke

Congratulations to this year’s recipient of the Brian Conlon GAA Scholarship, Joey Clarke.

A proud Donaghmore native and Future Stars graduate, Joey has already captained Tyrone to an All-Ireland U20 title. He continues to exemplify the leadership, talent and dedication that lie at the heart of the Brian Conlon Scholarship.

Ruairi Forbes BCF

2024 – Ruairi Forbes

Ruairi Forbes from Derry, has been awarded the Brian Conlon GAA Scholarship 2024 at Queens University. Last week, the University held a presentation where Brian’s wife Julie, and their children Fionn and Danú presented the award to Ruairi. The Foundation extends its best wishes to Ruairi for success in his academic pursuits and future endeavors in football.

2023 – Diarmuid King

Diarmuid King from Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, has been awarded the Brian Conlon GAA Scholarship 2023 at Queens University. Last week, the University held a presentation where Brian’s wife Julie, their children Fionn and Danú, Brian’s brother Ciaran, sister Kathy, and sister-in-law Adrienne were present. The Foundation extends its best wishes to Diarmuid for success in his academic pursuits and future endeavors in football.

2022 – John McGovern

Well done to John McGovern who won the inaugural Brian Conlon GAA Scholarship at Queens University.

The Queen’s Gaelic management team described John as an outstanding candidate and a very worthy first recipient of the award.

The presentation was made on Monday at the University by Brian’s mother Josephine and his two children – Fionn and Danú

The Foundation wishes John all the best of luck in the remainder of his academic studies and his exciting future footballing career.

Crooked Lake Triathlon – Event Partner

For a number of years Brian competed in and personally donated to the Crooked Lake Triathlon. It was an event that he loved. The Brian Conlon Foundation have now become a Crooked Lake Triathlon event partner. Every year friends and family participate in the event in Brian’s memory.

The Crooked Lake Triathlon have kindly donated a perpetual trophy in Brian’s Memory.

Congratulations to Stephen Loughran, Barry Loughran and Mark Rice winners of the Brian Conlon Perpetual Trophy at Crooked Lake Triathlon. Pictured (Left) is Brian’s wife Julie and kids Fionn and Danú presenting the trophy to Yvonne on their behalf.

The second relay team home was Dan Ashford, Mick Martin and Chris Trainor (Middle) who all work for First Derivatives and represented the Brian Conlon Foundation.

 

2022

On Saturday, the Brian Conlon foundation supporters were out in force at this years Crooked Lake Triathalon.

A brilliant day was had by competitors & spectators alike. A special thank you to the crooked lake triathalon team for their support on the day & for dedicating a perpetual team trophy in Brian’s memory. Brian would be really chuffed.
